Rachel Chunnha is an associate at Wood & Nathanson, LLP. She represents clients in post-conviction and appellate proceedings following criminal convictions and sexually dangerous person commitments. Rachel also represents people with disabilities before the Parole Board.
Prior to joining Wood & Nathanson, Rachel defended the liberty and bodily autonomy of people alleged to have mental illnesses while working in the trial unit, appellate unit, and training unit of the Mental Health Litigation Division of the Committee for Public Counsel Services. Her advocacy focused on criminal defendants found incompetent to stand trial or lacking criminal responsibility, and on the racial disparities in forensic psychiatric assessment and commitment. Before joining the Committee for Public Counsel Services, Rachel clerked for the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Rachel graduated with high honors from Suffolk University Law School, where she now teaches mental disability law.
