Melissa Ramos is a Senior Associate at Wood & Nathanson, LLP. She brings a deep commitment to defense in her representation of clients in criminal trials, appeals, and university discipline (Title IX) proceedings. Prior to joining Wood & Nathanson in 2019, she was an associate at another prominent Boston defense firm where she practiced criminal, employment, and Title IX law. Her work included helping to successfully defend several OUI cases.
Melissa’s current practice focuses on the direct and collateral consequences of criminal convictions. She appeals criminal convictions from the District Courts and Superior Courts across the Commonwealth. She helps clients prepare for parole hearings and represents sick and terminally ill clients in medical parole applications. She has succeeded in helping clients get their sentences reduced or have their convictions overturned. Melissa has also helped students minimize their sanctions when accused of misconduct at school.
She is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law. During her time in law school she was committed to indigent defense, interning with various non-profits and small firms in New York City and Boston. She also worked with Judge Jenny Rivera of the New York State Court of Appeals. In 2022, Melissa joined the board of directors for the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers where she plans important trainings to keep defense attorneys up-to-date on developments in Massachusetts law. She was also named a SuperLawyers Rising Star in 2022.
